Glandon Family Creedence Habano Oscuro Semi Box Press 11/11/18

 Appearance
A dark chocolate colored wrapper with a couple of prominent veins. The seams are tightly wrapped and difficult to find. There is a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Earth, cedar and a distant spice on the wrapper. Earth, cedar, lush red fruit and cinnamon spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Licorice, earth, cedar, lush red fruit, molasses and cinnamon spice.

1st
The initial draws bring bold notes of earth and cedar with cinnamon and black pepper spice in the background. The second couple of draws I notice the spice easing up a bit. In the next group of draws the molasses and fruity notes join the profile. I’m at 1/2” in and I’m noticing the strength is already ramping up to med/full. Very flavorful and very strong at the same time. Remember I do my reviews before breakfast so my palate will be clean. The smoke production is at the high range. The draw is perfect. The ash is a dark gray, stacked and a bit flaky so far. It actually started blooming(think of a flower) so I removed the ash so I wouldn’t have the distraction from the flavor. Tasting some dark chocolate notes about an inch and a half into the 1st/3rd. The first inch the burn was a bit wonky with all the blooming going on but it has settled down and evened out now. Wow! A lot going on in the 1st/3rd.

2nd
The 2nd/3rd starts with the black pepper tapering back and the sweetness moving to the forefront. The strength moves to full, catching up with the body. Suffice it to say it would be best to eat a good meal before smoking the Creedence. Some cashew notes join the profile and bring a smooth texture to the smoke. Very well balanced with nice complexity. The finish is long with notes of earth, cedar, lush fruit, molasses, dark chocolate, cashew, cinnamon spice and a pinch of black pepper spice.

Final/3rd
The flavorful, complex and well balanced profile continues into the final/3rd. I’ve smoked every Oscuro wrapped cigar on the market and non have been as complex or held their complexity and balance like this one! Phenomenal! The word Creedence(credence) is defined as Overwhelming evidence of something great. Man! Did Alan hit the nail on the head with this name! Complex, well balanced and extremely flavorful right to the nub.

 Overall
The Glandon Family Creedence Habano Oscuro Box Press provides an overwhelmingly enjoyable smoking experience. A complex, well balanced and extremely flavorful profile with a perfect draw and burn.
A Big Thank You to Alan Fonseca @The_DonFonseca for the sample for review!
The Creedence will be released in the Spring of 2019. If Full body/full strength is in your wheelhouse you will definitely want a box or two of these! TrustMe!

Joseph NicaVana Maduro Exclusivo Toro 11/10/18

 Appearance
The dark chocolate looking Maduro wrapper is a bit toothy and has a few medium sized veins. The seams are tightly wrapped and difficult to find. It has a light oil sheen and feels oily to the touch. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Earth, chocolate, cedar and some sweetness on the wrapper. Cedar, faint molasses and spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Earth, molasses, cedar, a tiny bit of licorice and spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of earthy molasses and cedar with a mild cinnamon spice in the background. About 5/8” in some fruity notes join the profile. The ash is almost white and tight. The draw and burn are perfect. There is also a pinch of black pepper spice at the end of the long finish. The ash becomes stacked on one side while the other remains tight. Just an observation. Dark chocolate notes join the already flavorful profile. The ash held straight and firm till removal. It would have held strong longer had I not removed it.

2nd
Smoke production is at the low end of high range. Cashew notes bring a creamy texture to the profile. The flavorful profile is very well balanced. The finish is long with notes of earth, molasses, cedar, fruity sweetness, dark chocolate, cashew and a mild cinnamon spice with a pinch of black pepper. The fruity notes keep the palate feeling clean. Great complexity. Strength has been medium since the start. The black pepper spice has tapered off.

Final/3rd
The flavorful and perfectly balanced profile rolls into the final/3rd with the cinnamon spice becoming warm cinnamon. Strength moves up to medium+. Smoke production is at the high range. The spice becomes more like a crushed red pepper spice. Burn & draw remain perfect to the nub.

Overall
The Joseph NicaVana Maduro Exclusivo Toro provides an excellent smoking experience. A complex, well balanced and very flavorful profile with a perfect draw and burn.
A Big Thank You to Alan Fonseca @The_DonFonseca for the sample for review. This cigar won’t be released until the early spring of 2019 but Alan wanted me to do the review now to wet your whistle.

The light brown wrapper has a few very thin veins. The seams are tightly wrapped and difficult to find. There is a nice oily sheen on the wrapper leaf. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Cedar, earth, graham cracker and spice on the wrapper. Cedar, fruit, honey graham’s and spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Cedar, licorice, earth, honey graham’s, Good & Plenty Candy(might have just dated myself) and a nice mild cinnamon spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of cedar, graham cracker and nutmeg spice. At 5/8” into the cigar the burn is razor sharp and the draw is spot on. Earthy notes join the profile. The light gray ash is fairly tight with a couple of stack lines. Strength starts at medium but by the end of the 1st/3rd is at medium+. The ash holds straight and firm till removal.

2nd
The smoke production is at the low end of high range. The finish is long with notes of cedar, honey graham’s, earth, light roast coffee and nutmeg spice. The draw becomes effortless before the midway point of this delicious cigar. The very flavorful profile is very well balanced. Ash remains firm again till removal.

Final/3rd
Notes of cashew join the complex, well balanced and flavorful profile. Strength is still medium+. The coffee notes become more like espresso. A dash of cayenne pepper joins the nutmeg spice. Complex, well balanced and flavorful right to the nub.

These should be arriving on the shelves of retailers that carry Salamanca Cigars as we speak. If your retailer doesn’t carry them yet you should ask them to look into it!

Joseph NicaVana Tempranillo Corojo Box Press 10/28/18

 Appearance
A light brown colored wrapper with a few thin veins. The seams are tightly wrapped and visible only due to some mottling. The front of the cigar has a matte type finish but with a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots. It is a soft Box Press.

Aroma
Cedar, dried white fruit and a faint hint of spice on the wrapper. Cedar, dried white fruit, milk chocolate a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Dried white fruit, cedar and a mild spice on the lips and tongue.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of a dry cedar. Dry as in needs moisture. The palate is dry after the first couple of draws. The next few draws bring the moisture in the form of dried white fruit that comes to life when the saliva comes in contact with the smoke. The ash is light gray and stacked. The draw is spot on as is the burn. The first hints of spice come at an inch and a quarter into the cigar. The cigar is causing a good amount of salivation(yes that’s a good thing). Smoke production is at the medium range. Strength is medium+ near the end of the 1st/3rd. The spice is a paprika. The ash holds firm till removal.

2nd
The flavor profile is very well balanced. The strength is up a tick. Cashew notes join the profile providing a creamy texture. The finish is long with notes of dried white fruit, cedar, cashews and warm paprika spice. The smoke production moves to the high end of medium range. The body is full with all of the flavors easily discernible.

Final/3rd
The strength moves to med/full. Light roast coffee notes join the profile. The profile remains flavorful right to the nub.

Overall
The Joseph NicaVana Tempranillo Corojo Box Press provides an extremely enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced, complex and flavorful profile with a perfect draw and burn. If I had another and the time I would have smoked it. It’s that good! That being said.
