Gran Apertura Tradicionales Toro 8/19/17

Appearance
Light brown in color, the wrapper has a couple prominent veins. The seams are tightly wrapped. It has a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots. There is also a small amount of tooth.
Very attractive colors and contrast on the bands.

Aroma
Barnyard, cedar, sweetness and a hint of spice on the wrapper. Cedar and sweetness with a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Cedar, sweetness, a hint of licorice and nutmeg spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of creamy cedar with a pinch of nutmeg spice. The draw is perfect with just the right amount of resistance. The burn has a slight wave. The ash is light gray and is mostly tight. Burn has fully self corrected midway in the 1st/3rd. Some nice almond notes have joined the profile along with cinnamon spice notes.

2nd
The smoke production is at the high end of medium. Midway in the 2nd the burn gets a bit wavy again. The strength which started at mild/med is at medium. The finish is long with notes of cedar, sweetness, almond, nutmeg and cinnamon spice.

Final/3rd
The flavor profile remains consistent moving into the final/3rd. Strength moves to medium+. Flavors remain consistent right to the nub.

Overall
The Gran Apertura Tradicionales Toro provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A flavorful profile with a great draw and mildly erratic burn.
