Foundation Cigar El Güegüense Robusto 2/28/16

Appearance 

A nice medium brown wrapper with a couple thin veins. The seams are tight and nearly invisible. A light oil sheen appears on the wrapper. The band is very attractive,colorful and well laid out.

Aroma

Earthy cedar with a hint of spice on the wrapper and the same at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Earthy cedar with light cinnamon spice and graham cracker notes.

1st

The spice shows itself right away in the form of cinnamon. Earthy Cedar is also present in the first few draws. About 3/4" in the flavor has a nice leathery texture. The draw is nice and the burn is slightly wavy. The ash is medium gray,stacked and slightly flaky. The cinnamon spice has tapered some but is still present. A little over 1" in the graham cracker from the prelight shows up. The spice seems to be more like nutmeg than cinnamon at this point. Strength is already at medium+. 

2nd

The earthy cedar and cinnamon return to the forefront of the flavor profile with the leathery texture still present. The graham cracker is more in the background. The finish is long with cedar,warm cinnamon and leather notes. About the halfway point in the cigar there is a nutty cashew note joining the mix. The spice becomes a little warmer. The strength is at med/full now. 

Final/3rd

The earthy cedar and cinnamon and cashew notes are melding nicely to form a tasty flavor profile. A salty note becomes noticeable now. The ash has tightened up. 

Overall the Güegüense provided a very pleasurable smoking experience. A woody spicy complex med/full cigar. Definitely something to have in your humi. A great debut cigar from Nick Melillo @NickRAgua @FoundationCigar

Kafie Cigars Sumatra Robusto 2/27/16

Appearance 

Milk chocolate brown toothy wrapper with a few small thin veins. The tightly wrapped seams are nearly invisible. There is a nice oily sheen on the wrapper. 

Aroma

Sweet hay on the wrapper and damp earthy hay at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Hay and earth with a sweet cocoa note.

1st

Sweet notes almost like dried fruit appear immediately on the first draws. Also almond notes mix well with the fruity sweetness. There is also an underlying note of coffee bean. The ash is salt&pepper gray and semi tight. The draw is perfect. The burn is almost perfect. Ash is still holding strong at the end of the 1st.

2nd

Still smooth & creamy moving along into the 2nd/3rd. There is a faint hint of spice developing. A mild cinnamon at this point. A very pronounced cocoa powder note surfaces. The flavor rolls from cocoa powder to almond to coffee bean. The dried fruit note is still present albeit underlying the other flavors. It has a medium finish with all of the aforementioned flavors. A dry hay note becomes prominent midway thru 2nd. The cinnamon spice note becomes a cardomom like spice. Strength has gone from medium to med+. 

Final/3rd

Spice ramps up to a crushed red pepper. Some Woody notes appear alongside the spice. Complexity tapers off with the wood and spice notes dominating the final/3rd. 

Overall a very enjoyable smoking experience. A very complex stick thru the first 2/3rds. A must try for all cigar lovers!

MBombay Kesara Pyramid 2/14/16

Appearance 

Light brown wrapper with fine veins. Tight invisible seams. There is about a 1/2" of exposed binder & filler.

Aroma

A faint aroma of hay on the wrapper and hay and a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Floral notes with hay and a hint of spice.

1st

First draws bring notes of dry toast to the palate. The hay notes are still prominent as well. There is a bit of the floral coming through as well. Once the wrapper begins to burn there is a definite tea flavor. The tea is a green and orange tea mix. About an inch in the spice arrives albeit just a hint on the sides of the tongue. A sour note shows itself intermittently. The ash is salt & pepper gray and fairly tight. The draw is almost perfect. The burn is razor sharp. 

2nd

The strength has been mild to medium since the start. The spice which was just a hint in the 1st/3rd is now present in the form of warm cinnamon. The finish is medium in length with notes of toast, cedar, tea and warm cinnamon. Smoke production is light/medium. Midway thru 2nd the strength goes to medium+. 

Final/3rd

The flavors are melding together nicely. The melded flavor continues thru to the nub. 

Overall the Kesara Pyramid provides a very enjoyable smoking experience. It's mildly complex and full of flavor. Draw and burn were spot on throughout. A great cigar to start the day. MBombay Habano Churchill 2/6/16

Appearance 

Beautiful milk chocolate brown Ecuadoran Habano wrapper with nice tight seams, nearly invisible. Mostly small thin veins. It has a nice oily sheen. This cigar came with only the large MBombay band.

Aroma

Sweet tobacco on the wrapper. Stronger sweetness and a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Very sweet hay and a hint of spice.

1st

First draws bring several different sweet flavors. Sweet hay, alongside a light cedar note. The draw is effortless. Burn has a little wave to it but as u know by now I almost never do burn corrections allowing the combustion of the cigar to correct itself. The ash is medium gray and slightly flaky. There is a floral essence in the background of the sweet notes. Some of the sweetness fades on the cedar allowing a more pure cedar note. A nice light roast coffee note joins the profile late in the 1st/3rd. 

2nd

The burn has fully self corrected at this point. The strength is a light medium at this point. A creamy cashew note has entered the mix. The cigar has a long finish with notes of cedar, coffee,cashew,a light floral and the hint of spice rounds it out. The ash appears to be tightening up as I get deeper into the 2nd.   Very smooth like grade 100 leather. The spice has developed into a nice crushed red pepper. The strength has moved to a medium+.

Final/3rd

Smoke output has been good throughout. Burn went off by about 45* but quickly self corrected. The flavor profile remains the same til the end.

MBombay Kesara Salamon 1/31/16

Appearance 

Light brown wrapper with tight nearly invisible seams. Very few veins are visible in the silky wrapper. There is a nice oily sheen on the wrapper. 

Aroma

A slight barnyard aroma on the wrapper and not much aroma at the foot other than the faint sweetness and a hint of spice.

Prelight Draw

Hint of spice on the lips and cedar and a sweet note.

1st

First draws bring notes of cedar to the palate. The draw is near perfect and the burn is spot on. The cigar flavor has a nice creamy texture. The ash is medium gray and semi tight. Cashews join the flavor profile with a hint of spice developing. The spice which starts in the cinnamon range quickly moves to warm cinnamon. 

2nd

By the start of the 2nd/3rd the ash has tightened up. The cedar and cashew notes remain constant while the spice fluctuates up and down in strength. The strength of the cigar has been in the medium range since the start. It has a long finish with notes of cedar, cashew and warm cinnamon spice. 

Final/3rd

By the beginning of the final/3rd the strength is at medium+. The flavors remain the same through till the end.

MBombay Mora Lancero 1/24/16

Appearance 

The wrapper is chocolate brown in color with tight nearly invisible seams. It has a nice tight pig tail cap and an inch of exposed binder and filler at the foot. I didn't use the word shaggy because it's not a shaggy foot in the normal sense. The exposed binder is wrapped around and covers the filler. The wrapper has a somewhat mottled oil sheen.

Aroma

The wrapper has an earthy aroma with a very faint cocoa powder scent in the background. The foot has a white cedar type aroma.

Prelight Draw

Hazelnuts with a light cocoa powder and an earthy finish.

1st

Initial draws bring notes of dry toast and cedar. A faint hint of spice also shows itself. As the wrapper begins to combust there is a definite sweetness joining the flavor profile. The draw is a bit snug. The ash is medium gray and tight. The burn thus far is spot on. There is a slight black pepper note present. The sweetness I detected early on is reminiscent of hazelnuts. 

2nd

There is a meaty note bringing the flavors together. The flavor profile has been very balanced to this point. The draw is still snug and could be due to the small ring gauge. The finish is medium in length with the earthy, hazelnut,cedar,spice and meaty notes all in balance. Later in this 3rd there is some cinnamon that joins the black pepper in the spice department. 

Final/3rd

The same flavor profile continues into the final/3rd. The draw opened up a little in this 3rd. Burn was spot on from start to finish.

MBombay Classic Robusto 1/17/16

Appearance 

The cigar has a light brown colored wrapper with a couple prominent veins. The seams are tight tho not invisible. There is a light oil sheen. 

Aroma

A light barnyard aroma is present on the wrapper with a hint of spice. Faint licorice blends in with fresh tobacco aromas at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Cedar leather spice and licorice flavors are present on the prelight draw.

1st

The first puff after lighting brings an iced coffee like flavor with an unusual sour note mixed with a little sweetness. The sweetness lingers on the finish. The draw is just a touch snug. The burn has a slight wave. The finish is medium in length. At about 3/8" in there is a spice note developing. The iced coffee noted becomes more of a traditional coffee flavor. Cedar is also present at this point. The ash looks like charcoal burning with the dark and light contrasts and is a bit flaky. 

2nd

The burn line which was off line a bit has almost fully self corrected by the start of the 2nd/3rd. The draw has loosened up nicely at this point. The spice note has developed into a crushed red pepper. The ash is becoming tighter(less flaky) as the cigar burns. The spice tapers off a bit at the end of 2nd.

Final/3rd

A meaty note joins the coffee and cedar to start the final/3rd. Strength has remained in the medium range til now when it goes to medium+. 

Overall a well balanced and flavorful cigar which provided a very pleasurable smoking experience. Another great cigar from @mbombaycigars
