San Lotano Requiem Maduro Toro 5/26/18

 Appearance
A beautiful smooth Maduro wrapper leaf with tightly wrapped seams. There is a small amount of mottling. The is no oil visible but u can feel it. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Earthy, cocoa, cedar, leather and a faint hint of spice on the wrapper. Earth, cedar, cocoa and spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Earth, dried fruit, cedar, molasses and warm spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of earth, cedar, molasses and spice. The burn is spot on at nearly an inch in. The draw is perfect as well. The ash is light gray and stacked. The dried fruit notes come out in the finish as well as black pepper spice notes. Strength and body are medium at this point. The burn line begins to angle, burning faster on one side. Ash holds firm til removal.

2nd
Upon inspection of the working end I find a 3/16” diameter tunnel. Smoke production is at the high end of medium range. After applying some simple physics the burn fully self corrects at the midway point of the cigar. The finish is long with notes of earth, cedar, dried fruit and black pepper spice all well balanced.

Final/3rd
The flavors become more bold as I move into the final/3rd. The profile remains consistent right through to the nub.

Overall
The San Lotano Requiem Maduro Toro provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A balanced and flavorful profile with a perfect draw and mildly erratic burn.
Thanks to brother Matthew Munro for the cigar to review.
