Joseph NicaVana Tempranillo Corojo Box Press 10/28/18

 Appearance
A light brown colored wrapper with a few thin veins. The seams are tightly wrapped and visible only due to some mottling. The front of the cigar has a matte type finish but with a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots. It is a soft Box Press.

Aroma
Cedar, dried white fruit and a faint hint of spice on the wrapper. Cedar, dried white fruit, milk chocolate a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Dried white fruit, cedar and a mild spice on the lips and tongue.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of a dry cedar. Dry as in needs moisture. The palate is dry after the first couple of draws. The next few draws bring the moisture in the form of dried white fruit that comes to life when the saliva comes in contact with the smoke. The ash is light gray and stacked. The draw is spot on as is the burn. The first hints of spice come at an inch and a quarter into the cigar. The cigar is causing a good amount of salivation(yes that’s a good thing). Smoke production is at the medium range. Strength is medium+ near the end of the 1st/3rd. The spice is a paprika. The ash holds firm till removal.

2nd
The flavor profile is very well balanced. The strength is up a tick. Cashew notes join the profile providing a creamy texture. The finish is long with notes of dried white fruit, cedar, cashews and warm paprika spice. The smoke production moves to the high end of medium range. The body is full with all of the flavors easily discernible.

Final/3rd
The strength moves to med/full. Light roast coffee notes join the profile. The profile remains flavorful right to the nub.

Overall
The Joseph NicaVana Tempranillo Corojo Box Press provides an extremely enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced, complex and flavorful profile with a perfect draw and burn. If I had another and the time I would have smoked it. It’s that good! That being said.
