Diesel Hair of the Dog Toro Box Press 4/14/19
Appearance
A light brown colored wrapper with a couple of prominent veins. The seams are tightly wrapped. The cigar has a nice oily sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.
Aroma
Cedar, slight barnyard, a hint of spice on the wrapper. Cedar, a hint of dried fruit and spice at the foot.
Prelight Draw
Cedar, dried fruit, cashews, graham cracker and a cinnamon spice.
1st
The initial draws bring notes of cedar, cashew and a cinnamon/black pepper spice combo. The draw is a tick snug, the burn is wavy. The smoke production is at the medium range. Strength starts out medium. The ash is light/medium gray and stacked. Almond notes join the profile. The blend is well balanced to this point. The ash holds firm and straight until removal.
2nd
The tunnel that was causing the erratic burn appears to be ending. About the midway point of the cigar the draw opens up. The finish is long with notes of cedar, almond and cinnamon/black pepper spice.
Final/3rd
The burn has fully self corrected. The draw is effortless. The strength moves to medium+. The flavor profile remains consistent right to the nub.
Overall
The Diesel Hair of the Dog Toro Box Press provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced profile with a nice flavor, good draw and mildly erratic burn.
It’s a good cigar worth a try but it’s a limited edition so get em while you can.
