Appearance
A light brown colored wrapper with a veiny texture and a bit of tooth. The seams are tightly wrapped and it has a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is well packed but there are a couple of soft spots.
Aroma
Cedar, fruity, earth and a distant spice on the wrapper. Candy sweetness, dried fruit, cedar, earth, graham crackers and spice at the foot.
Prelight Draw
Cedar, graham cracker, fruit, licorice, earth and spice.
1st
Initial draws bring notes of earth and cedar along with a mild spice. The draw is spot on. The burn has a wave on one side. Strength starts out in the mild/med range. The ash is medium gray and stacked. The ash began looking suspect so I removed it. Upon inspection of the working end I find a 1/4” diameter tunnel which is causing the erratic burn. The graham cracker notes come out in the long finish which also has notes of earth, cedar and spice. The spice is part cinnamon and part black pepper.
2nd
The black pepper spice becomes a bit more prominent. Strength moves to medium. Smoke production is at the medium range. Black pepper spice notes tapering back.
Final/3rd
Spice becomes more like warm cinnamon. The fruity notes become more noticeable after the black pepper notes are gone. The profile remains consistent right to the nub.
Overall
The TNT Cigars Red Dawn Toro provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A consistent profile with nice flavor. Great draw and mildly erratic burn.
