Appearance
A beautiful medium brown colored wrapper with very thin veins. The seams are tightly wrapped. It has a nice oily sheen. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.
Aroma
Cedar, leather, sugary sweetness on the wrapper. Molasses, cedar and cinnamon spice at the foot.
Prelight Draw
Licorice, dried red fruit, molasses, raisin, cedar, earth and mild cinnamon spice.
1st
Initial draws bring notes of cedar, mild cinnamon spice and dried red fruit. The draw is perfect. Burn is spot on. The ash is light gray/almost white and stacked. The spice has increased its presence, still nicely balanced. Smoke production is at the low end of medium range. Ash held firm till removal.
2nd
Great balance! The spice becomes more like Spanish Paprika. Molasses notes keep the spice in balance. The finish is long with notes of cedar, dried red fruit, molasses, Spanish Paprika all wrapped up in a leathery texture. Smoke production is at the medium range. Strength is medium. The ash has developed a bit of flake but is very firm and straight. A pinch of black pepper joins the profile.
Final/3rd
This cigar would do well in a long ash contest. Great complexity and a well balanced flavorful profile. Strength moves to med/full. Smoke production moves to the high end of medium range. Complex, well balanced and flavorful right to the nub.
