Blackbird Cigar Co. Crow San Andres Maduro 4/5/20

Appearance
A rustic looking dark chocolate colored wrapper with a few prominent veins. It has tightly wrapped seams and a bit of tooth. It has a light oil sheen and the matte finish typical with San Andres Maduro wrapper’s. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Rich Earth, cedar, sweetness, spice on the wrapper. Closed foot.

Prelight Draw
Earth, cedar, dark chocolate, dried fruit, citrus and spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of rich earth, cedar and a cinnamon/black pepper spice combo. The draw is effortless. The burn is uneven, about 5 degrees. The ash is light gray and stacked. About an inch in dried fruit and citrus notes join the profile. Dark chocolate notes join the profile. The ash held firm and straight until removal.

2nd
Upon inspection of the working end I find a couple of tiny tunnels together on the faster burning side, causing the uneven burn.
Strength and body are medium+. Smoke production is at the high range. The profile is well balanced, flavorful and rich. The finish is long with notes of earth, cedar, dark chocolate, dried fruit, citrus and a cinnamon/black pepper spice combo.

Final/3rd
Thanks to simple physics the burn has fully self corrected. The well balanced and flavorful profile continues right to the nub.

Overall
The Blackbird Cigar “Crow” San Andres Maduro provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile with an effortless draw and mildly erratic burn.
These come in a sampler box of 6 Robusto’s, each with a different wrapper leaf and blend. More reviews to come.
