San Lotano Requiem Habano Robusto 3/1/20

Appearance
A medium brown colored wrapper with tight seams and a couple of prominent veins. It has a nice oily sheen. The filler bunch is not packed as tight as a typical AJ cigar but it doesn’t appear to be spongy.

Aroma
Cedar, earth, red fruit and spice on the wrapper. Cedar, cocoa powder, red fruit, earth and spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Cedar, red fruit, red licorice, earth and spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of cedar with a pinch of spice. The draw is perfect. Smoke production is at the medium range. Very faint red fruit notes join the profile. Strength starts out medium. At 1/2” in the burn is spot on. The ash is medium gray and tightly stacked. The burn gets off a bit. The ash held firm and straight until removal.

2nd
Upon inspection of the working end I find a couple of tunnels near the faster burning side. Strength moves to med/full. The finish is long with notes of cedar, faint red fruit and a cinnamon/black pepper spice combo. Burn is back to spot on.

Final/3rd
The consistent flavor profile moves into the final/3rd. The profile continues right to the nub.

Overall
The San Lotano Requiem Habano Robusto provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile with a perfect draw and mildly erratic burn.
