Espinosa Las 6 Provincias MTZ Toro box press 3/15/20

Appearance
A medium brown colored wrapper with a few thin veins, a relatively smooth finish and tightly wrapped seams. There is a light oil sheen. The cigar has a nice box pressed shape. The filler bunch is well packed with a couple of soft spots.
The band is very attractive.

Aroma
Cedar, earth, dried red fruit and a very faint spice on the wrapper. Dried red fruit, cedar and spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Cedar, dried red fruit, raisin, earth and warm cinnamon spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of cedar and earth with a pinch of cinnamon spice. The ash is light gray, stacked and a bit flaky. The strength starts at medium. The draw is spot on. I’m keeping an eye on the ash as it is looking quite suspect. The burn has a small wave on one side. Dried red fruit notes are noticeable in the background and on the finish. The ash just dropped into the ashtray between draws, about 1.5” into the 1st/3rd. Upon inspection of the working end I find 2 tunnels, 1 at the center of the bunch and 1 just under the binder. The one near the binder causing the wavy burn. Smoke production is at the high end of medium range.

2nd
The warm cinnamon is joined by a pinch of black pepper which makes for a nice spice. The tunnel at the center of the bunch is gone but the one near the binder is now larger. I’m using simple physics to keep the burn from getting out of control. The cinnamon and black pepper are now equal in intensity. The finish is long with notes of cedar, earth, dried red fruit and a warm cinnamon/black pepper spice combo.

Final/3rd
The well balanced and flavorful profile continues into the final/3rd. The warm cinnamon increases in intensity. Midway in the final/3rd the burn line fully self corrected. The well balanced and flavorful profile continues right to the nub.

Overall
The Espinosa Las 6 Provincias MTZ Toro BP provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile with a perfect draw and mildly erratic burn.
The cigar is made at AJ Fernandez on a limited production so find it while you can and give it a try.
