Box Pressed Rebellion Robusto by American Viking Cigars 3/7/20

Appearance

A dark brown colored wrapper with a few thin veins. The seams are tightly wrapped but visible due to a bit of mottling. It has a nice oily sheen. The filler bunch is not jammed full but it’s not loose either.

Aroma

Earth, cedar and sweetness on the wrapper. Earth, cedar, cereal and a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw

Earth, cocoa powder, cedar and spice

1st

The initial draws bring notes of earth, cedar, bitterness and spice. The next set of draws bring a minerally citrus combination. Definitely an interesting start. The ash is med/dark gray and stacked. The draw is spot on. The burn is a bit erratic. Cocoa powder notes join the profile. Smoke production is at the high end of medium range. The ash looked a bit suspect but held on till removal.

2nd

The burn has almost fully self corrected. The spice is like a warm cinnamon. The finish is long with notes of earth, cedar, cocoa powder, minerally, citrus/bitterness (think grapefruit, lime) and warm cinnamon spice.

Final/3rd

The bitterness and mineral notes begin to dominate the profile. I find myself drinking a lot of water to wash out the bitterness. The profile remains consistent right to the nub.

Overall

The Box Pressed Rebellion Robusto provides a somewhat enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile thru the first 2/3’s with a great draw from start to finish and a mildly erratic burn in the first 2/3’s and perfect burn in the final/3rd.
