Punch Chop Suey Panetela 4/4/20

Appearance
A medium brown colored wrapper with a few prominent veins. The seams are tightly wrapped. The foot is unwrapped with the wrapper leaf starting at 1” up the binder. The cigar is very toothy and has a light oil sheen. The filler bunch is not overly packed and there are several soft spots.

Aroma
Tobacco with barnyard notes and cedar on the wrapper. Tobacco and cedar at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Sour, chocolate, cedar, dates, dried fruit and paprika spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of cedar and paprika spice. Some very sweet notes join in right away. The draw is good. The ash is medium gray and stacked. At an inch in the wrapper begins to burn, the sweetness fades and the flavor takes on more volume. The sweetness is returning in the flavor of moist fruit. The burn which started out straight has become uneven. There is still a bit of a sour note.

2nd
The strength and body are at medium, as is the smoke production. The profile takes on meaty notes. The finish is long with notes of cedar, meat, faint sweetness and mild spice.

Final/3rd
The well balanced and flavorful profile continues into the final/3rd. The spice increases in intensity about an inch into the final/3rd. The profile remains consistent right to the nub.

Overall
The Punch Chop Suey Panetela provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile with a nice draw and mildly erratic burn.
