Joya De Nicaragua Silver Robusto 2/3/19

 Appearance
A milk chocolate colored wrapper with a thick vein on the back of the otherwise fairly smooth cigar. The wrapper has a matte finish with very little oil sheen visible. The seams are tightly wrapped and difficult to find. The filler bunch is well packed with no apparent soft spots.

Aroma
Earth, cedar and tobacco on the wrapper. Earth, dried red fruit and a hint of spice at the foot.

Prelight Draw
Earth, succulent red fruit, licorice, cedar and a hint of cinnamon spice.

1st
The initial draws bring notes of earth and cedar with a mild spice on the outer edges of the tongue. The draw is spot on. The burn is a bit wavy. About a half inch in the red fruit notes join the profile along with a cinnamon/ black pepper spice combo. The ash is a medium gray and tight. Strength and body are medium. Smoke production is at the medium range. Ash held firm till removal.

2nd
The burn was self correcting, then got all wonky again. After removal of the ash I find a tunnel that is responsible for the erratic burn. The finish is long with notes of cedar, earth, red fruit and cinnamon spice. Dry roasted peanut notes join the profile midway in the 2nd/3rd. Burn is still a bit wavy.

Final/3rd
Just into the final/3rd the burn even’s out. Flavors remain consistent right to the nub.

Overall
The Joya De Nicaragua Silver Robusto provides an enjoyable smoking experience. A well balanced and flavorful profile with a great draw and mildly erratic burn.
